Visiting the South Point
The South Point is the most southerly point of mainland Australia. It is further than it looks, with the round trip from the lighthouse being almost 19km, and is almost a day trip in itself.
It is recommended that you take food, water and warm clothes in case the weather changes during your trip.
The South Point itself is a rocky outcropping of granite boulders. There is a weather beaten wooden plaque notifying you of your goal, but you are advised to not travel out to the waterline to avoid disturbing the wildlife.
